Mariel Zagunis won the first ever Gold Medal in Women’s Sabre at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.  In this video clip she faces off against team mate and club member Rebecca Ward for the gold medal bout of the 2006 World Championships in Torino.

Mariel and Becca are both in the top 3 in the world for their sport, and they are part of the US Women’s Sabre team that is ranked #1 in the world and projected to win a medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics

This is a good video of high level sabre fencing.  This fencing match features Romania’s Mihai Covaliu and Russia’s Stanislav Pozdniakov.  The two have an ongoing rivalry with Pozdniakov being a very sound tactician and fairly conservative in his game.  He is the “Ice” to Covaliu’s “Fire”.
