Unbelievable accident occurred during the first-ever appearance of the NASCAR Crasftsman Truck Series at Daytona International Speedway in 2000. Crowd was stunned when Geoff Bodine’s truck was sent into the outer catch fencing after racing three-wide at the start/finish line. Despite the fiery tumble, Bodine was able to fully recover from his injures, and returned to racing later on, a true testament to NASCAR’s strict safety rules.

Now, this actually shows what happend to his truck. You cant see anything from the original angle.
Its amazing from that angle you see how nasty that hit from Lonnie Rush was I never knew how hard that was from the TV angle
And its amazing how Renfrow didnt flip that truck
@insanebackflip199 randy Renfrow was the one that almost flipped. Check out Part 6 of this race, it shows the crash coverage there.
Incredible footage; thank you so much for sharing it.
Wow. To be fair the accident doesn’t look as bad from this angle. If you look at the cockpit it doesn’t seem to stop as badly as the tv angle. Still a hell of a crash though.
@insanebackflip199 Bobby Hamilton (4) and idk the others
Wow good angle. That fence mangled that car.
great footage and who was in the first crash
wow.. i never knew this angle existed.. great footage. i remember watching this live
@minirod2007 i never knew Kurt Busch raced in the Truck series
i was there
this shot really shows you what exactly happened in this wreck it was hard to tell from the tv shots….when you think about it now dennis setzers crash this year at talladega could have been just like this one but thankfully was not as bad
Unbelievable…
ive always wondered what happened because you cant see from the tv camera through all the flames. great capture and qaulity especially from a camera from 2000.
the crash looks alot different from this view. on the tv it looks like it just flew directly into the fence but this shows how it like crawled up the wall
Interesting. I did not know that Kurt drove the #99 in 2000. Also, this is some of the best footage I’ve seen of this accident. Keep up the good work.
amazing vid! great work.
If the 27 never hit him he would of landed on the wheels. Actually if the truck that got into bodine didn’t spin up into bodine when he hit the fence, it would of been bad at all. You learn slot from this view.
ive never seen this before. this shows how he got into pieces like he did.
The trucks today are no where near as exciting as they use to in these days. Full bore racing = awesome. But these trucks werent as safe as they are today. Take the tapered spacers off the trucks and you would see more exciting racing. Plus, the side windows arent really necessary.
Look how the 88 truck got through that one. Wow. Awesome quality by the way.
man i would love to see if you have more. excellent quality for its time.
It is amazimg how that fence tore up the body like a cheese grader. Unbelievable.
I always thought that Geoff’s truck just flew up into the fence and caught fire, didn’t realize that it rolled a couple of times first.
And the music at the end….wow
You should get tons of views for this vid, spectacular footage you got there!
